BALLARAT Meat Company was recently awarded the best ham on the bone in the south west region in the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) Smallgoods Competition.
Ballarat Meat Company manager Daniel Beaumont said the company also placed second in the strass, bacon and boneless leg ham categories. He said winning the best ham on the bone showed the company was consistent with its product, which is bought locally and Australian pork guaranteed."
“It’s a natural wood smoked ham,” Mr Beaumont said. “It’s a big thing for our company because we do a lot of Christmas ham. “It’s great to get the first because you can go somewhere with it.” Overall winners of the AMIC Smallgoods Competition will be announced at an awards night at Crown Casino this Saturday.
The competition provides local butchers the opportunity to showcase their expertise. Ballarat Meat Co Was Built in 1992 in the Wendouree Industrial Park opposite the Ballarat Aerodrome. With 35 years and three generations, in both meat retail and wholesale, the family has a wide experience in the meat industry as a whole.
